Pricing

What things cost

A printed part is priced from three things: the material it uses, the machine time it occupies, and the design work it needs. This page explains how those combine and gives planning ranges.

The guidance on this page is not a final price. The repository behind this site records no price list, so nothing here is a commitment. Send the details and the quote you receive sets the price, the material, and the shipping for your order.

Guidance ranges

Planning figures for common jobs, in US dollars, before shipping. A quote confirms the real number.

Planning guidance only; a written quote confirms every price.
Job What it covers Guidance
Print of our shop design An existing design, printed in the listed material and colour from $25
Print of your model file Your STL or 3MF printed as supplied, scaled, or split into parts from $20
Model repair Fixing a file that will not slice, or is not watertight from $30
Simple part from measurements Brackets, clips, spacers, and adapters modelled to your dimensions from $60
Design from a sketch or description CAD modelling of a new part, with a printed prototype from $120
Small production run Ten or more matching parts, priced per piece after the first sample quoted per run

These are starting points, not ceilings: a large part, a specialty material, or a design with many moving fits will cost more, and we will say so in the quote rather than after the work.

What moves the number

Five things that change a price

Material

Standard PLA and PETG are the least expensive. Tougher, flexible, or high-temperature materials cost more per gram and print more slowly.

Size and solidity

Price follows the volume of material and the hours on the machine, so a hollow object can cost far less than a solid one the same size.

Design time

A part modelled from your measurements is quick. A new mechanism, or a design with several revisions, takes longer and is quoted before it starts.

Finish

Sanding, filling, priming, or painting is hand work and priced by the piece. An unfinished print is the least expensive option.

Quantity and shipping

The per-piece price falls with quantity, because the setup is paid once. Shipping is quoted to your address in the USA.

How a quote is handled

  • You describe the part, and we ask the questions we need answered.
  • You receive one written quote: price, material, finish, and lead time.
  • Nothing is printed until you approve that quote.
  • If the work turns out to need more than the quote covered, we stop and ask before spending it.
  • Payment is arranged when the quote is approved; ask about the accepted methods.
